My stepmother recently became a client with Amada, and I couldn't be happier with their service! Although I knew she had long-term care insurance, I wasn't sure how to proceed. Amada's services have been a remarkable support for my aunt over the past few years. Diagnosed with severe Alzheimer's at a relatively young age, she needed constant care. The team from Amada was exceptional, treating her with the warmth and kindness of family. Sadly, she passed away the day after Christmas, and Amada promptly reached out to offer their condolences to my family and me. They even sent a thoughtful gift and a card signed by the entire office. I’m very happy with the service provided by Amada. I live out of state due to work, while my parents are in Birmingham. After my father experienced a serious fall and needed hip replacement surgery, my mother required help taking care of him as his mobility was greatly reduced. How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?
1. Military Service
- A minimum of 90 days of active duty, with at least one of those days during wartime.
- Must not have been dishonorable discharged.
2. Personal Care Needs
- Applicant must currently require assistance with activities of daily living, such as walking, eating, toileting, or dressing.
3. Income
- Majority of applicant’s income must currently be spent on care expenses.
- The percentage of income currently spent on care will determine the benefits they receive.
4. Assets
- The VA will determine an acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
- Determination of financial assets will depend upon age and financial need.
