Amada Senior Care did an amazing job providing the care that my wife and I needed. We were super fortunate in having one caregiver for Al but the first few months. I live in South Carolina and my mother lives in Jacksonville, Florida. She was beginning to need some home healthcare and Tom and Veronika from Amada Senior Care met with my mother. She had already cancelled her long-term healthcare policy because she didn’t think that she could afford the 90-day elimination period. They filled out the paperwork and worked with the long-term healthcare company and were able to get her policy reinstated. We have a wonderful lady, Joanne, that comes to my mother’s home to help her. She has only been coming for a month, but she is doing an awesome job with her and my mother loves her as if they have known each other for years! Veronika also recommended and helped my mother get into a skilled nursing rehab facility after she had to go into the hospital for a few days. It is a wonderful facility. Veronika was home on Labor Day and we must have spoken over the phone 6 or 7 times that day. Tom and Veronika have been a God send! I didn’t know anything about home healthcare, skilled nursing, etc. and they were able to recommend and facilitate everything for me. They also recommended someone who could install grab bars and handrails in my mother’s home. They were such a big help, and I could never thank them enough for what they have done for my mother! Amada Senior Care has always been there for my family in our time of need. We have used them multiple times to care for our father who has dementia. I called Tom at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon from the hospital, desperate and having been awake for 36 hours. He answered the phone, asked for 30 minutes and was able to setup a caregiver that gave us the relief my brother and I needed. This year, my family used the services of Amada’s in-home health aides for two months on a daily basis to look after a loved one in poor health. We recently increased the work scope for home health care to include my father who recently came home to receive hospice care. The franchise owner Tom N. has been extremely helpful in working with my parents’ insurance, scheduling aides throughout the week, providing referrals for in-home skilled nursing, and communicating with me regularly. How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?
1. The Veteran’s Military Service
- Veterans must have had a minimum of 90 days of active duty, and at least one of those days must have occurred during wartime.
- Veterans must not have a dishonorable discharge on their record.
2. The Veteran’s Personal Care and Home Care Needs
- Applicant must must require current assistance with ADLs, like walking, toileting, dressing, and/or eating.
3. The Veteran’s Income
- Most of the applicant’s income must currently be spent on home and personal care expenses.
- The benefits the applicant is eligible to receive will be based on the percentage of income currently spent on care.
4. The Veteran’s Assets
- It is the VA that will determine the acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
- Determination of financial assets will depend upon applicants’ financial need and age.
How VA Aid and Attendance Benefits Can Help You:
