Amada Senior Care Springfield
Barbie Kolb, Christopher Kerr and Timothy Swearengin, owners of Amada Senior Care Springfield, are passionate about enriching the lives of seniors by providing them with personalized, in-home senior care along with guidance as they navigate the unfamiliar territory of senior care.
“My passion for caring for seniors began after my sweet Grandma fell and was no longer able to care for herself at home,” says Barbie. “It was a stressful time as her children began to make decisions regarding her care with little experience or guidance in this area. I realized the value of having someone to walk through that difficult time with the family. It will be an honor to have the opportunity to provide that comfort to families going through similar situations.
“While Grandma was well cared for in the skilled nursing facility, she longed for the day she could be back in her own home. It was an easy decision for me to choose to advocate for seniors after my retirement from teaching. Working to help other families navigate this unfamiliar territory and find what is best for their loved ones is where I want to focus my energy.“
Barbie, Tim and Chris share a passion for advocating for seniors. Each one went through senior care experiences in their own families, and those experiences reaffirmed their commitment to providing the highest quality of in-home senior care. Amada Springfield’s trained caregivers provide compassionate care for seniors living in the counties of Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster, along with the cities of Aurora, Bolivar, Branson, Marshfield, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Rogersville, Springfield, Willard, and beyond.
“As a physician for more than 20 years, I am a daily witness to the disruption that disability and disease has on patients and their families,” says Chris, an Anesthesiologist. “I do my best to offer comfort and reassurance to patients as they face an uncertain diagnosis, frightening prognosis or a prolonged recovery after surgery. Outside the walls of the healthcare system, there is a tremendous need to continue caring for our seniors here in Southwest Missouri.
“Caring for the most vulnerable in their time of need has been a true calling and privilege,” Chris adds. “Amada Springfield allows me the honor to continue offering comfort and reassurance to vulnerable seniors in a safe and familiar environment, their own homes.”
Chris, Barbie and Tim are committed to treating seniors with the same respect and compassion as they do their own families, because they are part of the Amada family.
Says Tim: “I, like most, have witnessed the struggle of those who require long-term care assistance. In my own family, due to accidents, Alzheimer’s, or simply advanced age, those closest to me are living with this struggle—uncertain of what services are available, what they can afford, and who to turn to during this vulnerable time, they do what they can.
“I chose a career in medicine, because I wanted to care for and comfort people through the most vulnerable and frightening experiences of their lives,” Tim notes. “What I’ve come to realize is the tremendous need for that same care after these events. Amada is my opportunity and privilege to provide continued compassion for the rest their lives.”

Loved every person we came in contact at Amada. Everyone was like family the minute they stepped in the door. We only had care a couple of days and staff was with us when my mom died. They were so helpful, supportive, caring and loving to my Dad and I and to my mom although she wasn’t alive.
Will definitely use this family owned, Christian based company in the future if the need arises
Thank you for your love and support during that tough time
Senior Housing Advising
At Amada Senior Care Springfield, we understand that the transition from in-home senior care to an assisted living environment can be difficult for seniors as well as for their loved ones. We are committed to guiding you and your family through this process with compassion and wisdom so that you can all feel confident you’ve made the right decision.
When you are looking for the right care community for a senior you love, it’s understandable that your first concern will be his or her physical well-being. There are many different senior housing options in the Springfield area, from independent living communities that foster active social lives for residents, to nursing homes where residents receive a higher level of help with activities of daily living and also have access to more complex medical services. We will help you honestly evaluate your loved one’s care needs so that you can find the most suitable level of care for them.
Finding the right senior housing option isn’t only about making sure a senior is safe and well-cared for. We all want our loved ones to feel comfortable, content, and fulfilled, so it’s important that we guide you to the community that will be the best fit for a senior’s personal needs and preferences. For example, would Grandma prefer a large, diverse community, or something smaller and more intimate? Are there location requirements to meet, such as proximity to family members? What kind of activities and hobbies does Dad enjoy?
Since we have worked with seniors and their families in Springfield for years, we have seen what day-to-day life in each of the senior communities in Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, Webster, and the communities of Aurora, Bolivar, Branson, Marshfield, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Rogersville, Springfield, Willard, and beyond is really like. This insight enables us to guide you to the ideal new home for your loved one’s unique situation and personality.
At Amada Springfield, we can also help families determine the best way to pay for senior housing. Many of our clients have found substantial financial support through programs and resources such as long-term care insurance, veterans’ benefits, and even life insurance policies. Before you rule out any senior living options based solely on budgetary concerns, let us make sure you’ve taken advantage of every bit of assistance you are entitled to.

Home Care Technology: “BeClose”
Senior care options haven’t changed much over the years, and most families assume their choices are still limited to in-home senior care, moving a senior into a family member’s home, or moving them to an assisted living facility. So many of the families we have worked with say that none of these options is ideal for their situations or budgets, which is why Amada is so proud to introduce a new choice: remote care with our BeClose home monitoring technology.
BeClose is ideal for seniors who wish to remain independent at home and also for the families that worry about them. This system consists of a range of products that don’t interfere with a senior’s daily activities but reassure their loved ones of their safety, such as indoor and outdoor cameras, button-free emergency alarms, and even medication monitors. Families have access to real-time updates through our secure mobile app, and are even notified if we detect a potentially serious change in a senior’s routine or behavioral patterns.
Essentially, BeClose allows families to keep a loving eye on seniors from anywhere in the world as the seniors maintain as much independence as possible.
