Amada Senior Care made the experience with home care for my mom unbelievably easy. From the initial phone conversation with Lou to the in-person meeting with Nese to assess the actual need and subsequently meeting their selected Caregiver, Sabrina, prior to the start of services was a blessing. I can’t say enough about the wonderful care I received from Amada Senior Care of Southern Fairfax. The owner Lou Assaf and office Nese Reinard truly care for the clients. For 8 months they sent me wonderful caregivers, were flexible with my schedule and the care I needed. The one occasion I had an issue, it was taken care of immediately. Lou is truly available 24/7, answers the phone in the middle of the night, and will come to give care himself at any time if no caregiver is available. My positive impression of Amada Senior Care started from from the first moment we walked in the door and met with Nese and Lou. They treated us with the respect, compassion, and warmth for which one would hope to be treated. Furthermore, business matters were conducted in a very reputable manner. We didn’t need Amada’s services for very long, but I’d do business with Amada again without any reservations.
I recently had a total knee replacement and since I have other health concerns, it was necessary for me to employ some help during the first 2 weeks of recovery. My family and I cared for my mother for 14 years and during that time it was necessary to employ a number of people to assist with her care. In all those years, I never experienced the professional and caring assistance for my mother that I experienced during the 2 weeks that I recently had with Amada Senior Care. The women were well trained, courteous, concerned and caring. They were friendly and pleasant people and we loved having them in our home. They also thought of different ideas about accomplishing my tasks that were quite helpful. Also, I have no idea how Lou Assaf (owner of Amada) was able to schedule this help so quickly. My surgery was scheduled quickly because my surgeon fit me into the hospital schedule instead of waiting 3 months for the surgery. As a result I had very little time to find any help. Mr. Assaf met with us immediately, assessed the temporary situation and scheduled the care givers quickly. We were indefinite about the work days as we did not need full 24 hour care over those 14 days but some how he was able to satisfy our needs. We have been with Amada Senior Care of Southern Fairfax since May 2021. During this time, Lou Assaf has managed to keep my mother supplied with kind, cheerful, and helpful health aides. We only need help for 30 hours a week and often an aide may be offered a full-time opportunity elsewhere. No sooner does one leave than a replacement is introduced and starts work right away. Lou Assaf and his office manager know exactly the kind of helper mom likes and always sends us someone who meets the requirements. They are very careful about vetting their employees. There are times when no one is available, and Lou will send a fully qualified person from his office staff to cover. He has even driven mom to a doctor’s appointment when an aide was unexpectedly unable to do so. One of the aide’s told me she had worked for other agencies and health care facilities and Lou and his staff were the most supportive of the employees she had experienced. Lou, his management team, and all of Amada’s caregivers have been of great service throughout some very difficult life transitions with my parents. My parents had been aging in place, and as their physical abilities to take care of themselves dramatically decreased, his teams picked up the slack, eventually moving to 24×7 care. Of particular note was not only the assistance with the ADLs, light cooking, and keeping rooms clean, but also the companionship for my father that they brought to bear after my mother passed and he was dealing with that loss and his loneliness after many years of marriage. Specifically to note two of the most intense times where the caregivers excelled. There were caregivers assisting my mother and I in her last week of life, and who were also present as my mother passed. The comfort that they gave to my mother during this time – from bathing her in place to holding her hand, as well as their ability to partner with me and to share the load during her last days was exquisitely supportive. Additionally, when my father moved to assisted living because of dementia, the caregiver supported him in processing the move, and walked the whole way with us on the day of the move. She helped him to start up with activities at the facility, helped him to make friends, helped with aspects of the apartment set up, and voluntarily met with the facility’s staff CNAs to help them get to know him. Again, the support for my dad, and the partnership with me and the family in this move was compassionate, able, and done with poise and solidarity for my father’s well-being. Lou and Nese were clear, efficient, compassionate, and always available to assist with questions, schedule updates, any changing needs, and disseminating necessary information regarding the care to the team of caregivers as well as to family. They also helped provide us with deeper understanding of elder needs, and even provided a compassionate and supportive presence during the funeral. All in all, we are forever grateful for Lou’s management and his caregiver team, all of whom have been invaluable in supporting my parents and us as a family during these difficult transitions.

Normally I don’t write reviews, but caring for aging parents is critical. I’ve been with six or seven other services and these guys are the best in the business, bar none. Five years ago, when my parents first started exhibiting signs of Alzheimer’s, I didn’t know where to turn, so I picked a franchise with decent reviews. The next day they sent a great caregiver who inexplicably vanished after three days. According to the company, she was no longer available but they had someone just as good. After a few months of shoddy service, missing cash, unfilled shifts, and a failure to file our claims, we found a new service. Except for the thievery, the process repeated. I believe these companies have one or two great caregivers they send out to gain your confidence. After that, you’ll get the run of the mill. In one case a caregiver let my father, who was a fall risk, wander around on his own because she was on her break. In other cases, we’ve had caregivers just sit and stare at their phones then sigh every time they had to do something. The only reason I know this is because I work remotely and witnessed it. I was labeled by each company as a complainer and in one case told things went smoother when family members weren’t around. Beyond that, none submitted our long-term care insurance claims without constant needling. My belief is that most companies get away with subpar service because the patient isn’t savvy enough to report it. From there, I read reviews and went with new company after new company. I found mild improvement, but ultimately was saddled with caregiver’s that didn’t want to be there. Upon complaining, I was told that I had to encourage the caregivers to converse and play games with my mom. In short, this industry is filled with snakes seeking to make a quick buck with little regard for their workers or your loved ones. If you’re not sure, ask your current caregiver how they feel about their company. Inevitably, they’ll tell relay stories of being cheated on overtime hours, lied to about raises, and generally underappreciated. Now, if a company is willing to cheat their own employees, imagine how they’ll treat your aging parent. Finally, a friend referred me to Amada. We made an appointment with Lou, the owner, and he came over to meet with us. After identifying our needs, he agreed to assemble a team to meet our requirements. Next, he requested our long-term care insurance information. Then, with phone and laptop in hand, he contacted representatives and claims agents. Thirty minutes later, he’d established a process to automatically submit our claims. After agreeing to work with us, Lou explained it would take two weeks to assemble a team capable of meeting our requirements. Two weeks later, we heard from Nese with the line-up and everything has been fine. She’s a great communicator and always lets me know exactly what’s happening. Amada was a literal lifesaver! They provided exceptional support and personnel while we dealt with the daunting task of managing my father’s care from hundreds of miles away. I couldn’t believe how consistently responsive they were on such short notice- and their care givers were amazingly sincere and caring and conscientious. Because of our distance I had to call afterhours, and Amada was always more than happy to help- whether providing a last-minute coverage for a privately hired caregiver who called in sick, or any other logistical conflict that came up. Amada even called back within 5 minutes once despite it being the middle of the night- so they could begin the search for a caregiver who could be there within a few hours. And they always found someone!
