Amada Senior Care Richmond

Jay Mann, owner of Amada Senior Care Richmond, knows too well the feelings of frustration families feel when they are not able to help and care for a senior loved one. Jay recalls, “Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work in pathology with cancer research and diagnostics. During that time, sadly, my best friend passed away from lung cancer, leaving behind a wife and two children. He was like a brother to me, and his passing affected me in a profound way.

This experience has motivated Jay to provide the highest quality of care for seniors and to provide compassionate support for their loved ones. “I remember so clearly how helpless I felt as I watched my friend suffer. I speak with people every day who feel about their parents the way I did about my best friend. I know that we can give them peace of mind to know that their parents are in good hands—that we’re doing right by them. I know this is the right thing to do.”

Jay and our team at Amada Senior Care Richmond have earned a reputation for providing excellent senior care in Tuckahoe, Mechanicsville, Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Bon Air, Laurel Park, and surrounding communities. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of our clients by providing personalized and compassionate care. Of course, our home-care aides take help with ADLs like cooking and light housekeeping, but we try to find ways to make each of these activities feel special. Once we form trusting relationships with our clients, we can truly understand not only their care needs, but also their preferences and desires. This not only brightens the lives of our clients, but also of their loved ones who see them thrive.

Great Home Cair And Consultation For Assisted Living

The home care received for my parents in their home helped to keep them safe and cared for. From the first meeting with Crystal Hines, to working with the nurse, Dierdra for the assessment, and regularly with Angel on scheduling, we felt connected and assured of good care. When there was safety concern, we were immediately contacted and able to follow up. Amada caregivers kept leadership aware of changes to my father's health and we were notified right away. We moved our parents to nursing care to handle the necessary 24 hour care required at the time. Later, we reached out to Crystal to assist us in finding the appropriate Assisted Living facility for our mom as she could not return home due to memory issues. We provided the type of facilities we were looking for and she set up interviews, came with us, and as she had also met with our mom, was able to advocate for her going to Assissted Living and not Memory Care at this time. If it becomes necessary for additional care for our mom while in Assisted Living, Amada will be our first call! They helped make a challenging time a little less stressful.

Crystal Hines

I am writing this testimonial as a statement of my upmost admiration and respect for the professional performance exhibited by Crystal Hines, Amada Senior Care Liaison. In full disclosure, I too, am in the industry of helping geriatric individuals find the peace, solitude and dignity in the golden years of their remaining life. To be in this profession, I will strongly emphasize, one must possess the means to want to serve the geriatric population for the right reasons. In this profession, many of these reasons get convoluted due to the acquisition of financial gain, professional recognition and corporate growth. In working for the largest non-profit hospice company, Capital Caring Health, after working in the for-profit sector, I have seen many poor decisions made based on a lack of empathy and for personal greed. I strive to make professional partnerships in the community with other organizations, for profit or non-profit, which, not only present as a high quality health care organization but demonstrate what it means to be one as well; to help those individuals acquire the right services, at the right time, by the right service providers. Crystal Hines, from Amada Senior Care, exemplifies what it means to be this type of business partner. She is a model representative for health care education, patient advocacy and quality care for the geriatric population and their care givers.

I have worked alongside Crystal for the past 18 months. She has been able to provide residential placement to many of our patients. Through her extensive knowledge of the Richmond residential market, Crystal has provided patients a living arrangement where they were finally able to find a place to call home while their family members were able to rest at peace knowing their beloved family members were well taken care of in a safe and attentive environment. Crystal has become my choice in residential placement for those family members and patients struggling with the difficult decision to have an individual move from their current place of residency to another they are yet familiar.

Private duty health care services can be a very delicate decision made by the patient or by the family of those needing services. Trust, consistency, quality of care and reliability all contribute to the character and validity of a private duty company. In working with Crystal Hines, of Amada Senior Care, I have received many high regards to the quality of work provided by the individual caregivers of the company and the consistent follow through from Crystal to ensure a high excellence of care. Every company, including my own, will occasionally have a service failure. However, the response to problem in providing a solution is testimony of the commitment behind the liaison and the company itself. I attest, Crystal Hines, has exceeded all expectations of a professional partnership in providing quality and consistent services, to all individuals, in any situation, at any time.

As stated, in my testimony above, I highly recommend Crystal Hines, Amada Senior Care Liaison, as a personal choice for residential placement and private duty health care services.

Thank you.

Senior Housing Advising

When seniors or their loved ones begin to feel that they require more support than in-home care and assistance with basic ADLs, it may be time to consider transitioning to an assisted living community.

Senior Housing Guidance and Assistance
Senior Care Housing Options

This is an emotional decision for everyone involved, and our goal at Amada Senior Care in Richmond is to guide families through the placement process with wisdom, empathy and competence.

For some seniors, an assisted living community, typically offering non-complex medical services, may be a good fit. Others may require a bit more support and may be better served in a nursing home or different type of care community.

The team at Amada Senior Care Richmond has years of experience with senior care in Charlottesville, Montrose, East Highland Park, Tuckahoe, Dumbarton, Lakeside, Laurel Park, Midlothian, Bon Air, Wyndham, Rockville, Glen Allen, Chesterfield, Chester, Mechanicsville, Henrico, Richmond and beyond. As a result, we have deep knowledge of all local care communities and can make sure our clients find the ideal placement to suit their care needs, locations, lifestyles, and budgets.

We also rely on our extensive experience to help our clients make full use of all benefits available to them, including veterans’ benefits and Long-Term Care Insurance benefits. The costs of assisted living may intimidate many families, but we can help them make financial decisions with confidence. To further ease cost concerns, the Amada Richmond team is pleased to offer its placement services free of charge.

When in-home care is no longer ideal for our clients, we are honored to guide them through this next phase. Our specialty is referring seniors to the right community or placement for them, which may include:

  • Assisted living communities
  • Large and small communities
  • Independent living communities
  • Board and care homes
  • Adult family homes
  • Senior care homes
  • Skilled nursing facilities
  • Alzheimer/dementia communities

Veterans Assistance Programs

Many of our veterans, their spouses and their families may not be aware of their potential eligibility for financial assistance from the government. At Amada Senior Care Richmond, we are dedicated to helping individuals eligible for VA Aid and Attendance benefits and other forms of financial support take full advantage of these resources.

How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?

1. Military Service

  • A minimum of 90 days of active duty, with at least one of those days during wartime.
  • Must not have been dishonorable discharged.

2. Personal Care Needs

  • Applicant must currently require assistance with activities of daily living, such as walking, eating, toileting, or dressing.

3. Income

  • Majority of applicant’s income must currently be spent on care expenses.
  • The percentage of income currently spent on care will determine the benefits they receive.

4. Assets

  • The VA will determine an acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
  • Determination of financial assets will depend upon age and financial need.

How VA Aid and Attendance Benefits can Help You:

Through the use of VA benefits, seniors gain more financial flexibility for their care plans and potential placements. This may include:

  • More in-home care.
  • The community of their choice.
  • Benefits paid monthly with no repayment required.
  • Benefits are paid directly to claimants by the United States Treasury and are tax-free.

"Jay and his team did an excellent job of assisting my father in his desire to stay independent. As one of Jay's first clients, he developed a friendship with Jay and his staff which allowed them to help in ways that he would not allow others to assist."
