The Purple Hour: Amada Senior Care in Jacksonville Gathers Community Leaders to Defeat Dementia
Neeta and Tom Nicholson, owners of Amada Jacksonville, were proud to hold the first Defeat Dementia Happy Hour at the Palms Pantry in Jacksonville. Attendees wore encouraged to wear purple to promote Alzheimer’s disease education efforts and support seniors who have been diagnosed with dementia and the family caregivers who love them.
Defeat Dementia provided an informative, networking event for leaders in dementia education, including speakers Melissa Murray, PhD, Professor of Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic, and Victor Cora, Senior Program Coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Mayo Clinic. With this and other events, Amada Jacksonville raised $2,410 for Walk to End Alzheimer’s, exceeding their goal for 2025!

Pickleball with a Purpose: Amada Senior Care in Jacksonville Gathers Community Leaders to Defeat Dementia
Tom Nicholson (wearing tie), who co-owns and operates Amada Jacksonville with his wife, Neeta, was delighted to present a $5,000 donation check to Twilight Wish of Northeast Florida. The charity funds were raised during the debut “Pickle with a Purpose” pickleball tournament for which Amada Jacksonville participated as the title sponsor.
In attendance for the check presentation was Peter Stinson, Executive Director of the Twilight Foundation. The Twilight Wish Foundation is a national non-profit organization represented around the country by regional groups such as the Northeast Florida Chapter that strives to grant life-changing wishes for seniors in Greater Jacksonville’s local communities.

Amada Jacksonville First-Ever Title Sponsor of Vicar’s Landing Charity Foundation Fundraiser ‘Drives & Dinks’
In attendance at The Vicar’s Landing Charity Classic 2024 were Neeta and Tom Nicholson, owners of Amada Senior Care of Jacksonville, Tony Boselli (NFL Hall of Famer), and Bruce V. and Bruce J. from The Vicar’s Foundation. “We are so honored to have been asked to be a part of this amazing charity,” said Neeta, MBA, CNA and Senior Care Advisor at Amada Jacksonville.
The non-profit Vicar’s Landing Charity Foundation holds is Charity Classic “Drives & Dinks” event to help raise funds for maintaining emergency resources and support senior-benefitting community charities in St. Johns County.
The proceeds from this event benefitted:
- Seniors vs. Crime Project, which provides information about scams and crime prevention programs to educate seniors. In addition, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigates of these crimes against seniors and have helped recover millions for senior citizens in our community. www.seniorsvscrime.com
- Lend An Ear, based out of Vicar’s Landing, a group of dedicated audiologists who have committed to providing free examinations and, upon verification of need by diagnosis, volunteer to recast and fit the used hearing aids donated and collected by Lend An Ear to qualified low-income seniors in our area. www.lendanearoutreach.org
- Pie in the Sky, which delivers fresh healthy and nutritious produce to low-income seniors in St. John’s County. www.pieintheskystjohns.org
- Meals on Wings, a program to recover food from several locations within the Jacksonville community and repackage the food into healthful meals for needy seniors. Each week, five meals are provided to seniors on the waitlist for Meals on Wheels. www.ozziesprojects.unf.edu
