Home Care Benefits for Veterans in South Portland, ME

Veterans Affairs Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program

The VA offers many programs to veterans and their surviving spouses, so they receive the health care services they deserve, including home care, respite care, and help around the house. Amada is proud to be a licensed provider for those who served our country.

At Amada Southern Maine, we work closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ excellent team of social workers and case managers and are proud to be an approved VA home care provider. At Amada Senior Care of Southern Maine, we work with great diligence to make sure eligible veterans get every care hour of services and benefits they are entitled to as a result of their dedicated military service.

If you are a veteran or a veteran’s spouse, you may be eligible for a variety of different VA benefits for home care, respite care and assisted living. Our senior advisors at Amada Southern Maine would be honored to assist with a complimentary benefits review to see if you qualify, help you apply and guide you in enrolling in the VA Health Care program. Homemakers and Home Health Aides (HHA): Home Care Assistance for Veterans

Trained professionals provide personalized care in the home to meet each veteran’s specific needs, including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, ambulating, incontinence care, medication reminders, as well as housekeeping tasks like laundry and meal preparation. Such care provides compassion and comfort for the mental health of our veterans, allowing loved ones to age in their own homes with grace and safety.

Respite Care: Trusted Professional Care for Your Loved One so You Can Take Care of Yourself

Amada Senior Care and the VA understand the toll that taking care of a loved one can take! In an effort to reduce family caregiver stress and burnout, and to support the health and well-being of both veterans and their caregivers, the VA offers respite care in which a professional caregiver can relieve a family member on a regular basis. During that time, the family member can take a well-deserved break or attend to other household matters, confident that the senior loved one is in the capable, trusted hands of an Amada caregiver.

VA Aid and Attendance: A Benefit Program for Veterans and Their Surviving Spouses

This is another program providing home care but is available to surviving spouses or can be used alone or in conjunction with HHA to get more comprehensive care for a veteran. Certain qualifications need to be met. Call us at 207-305-2233 for a complimentary veterans benefits review.
