Non-medical caregiving for U.S. veterans includes a range of supportive services that enhance their daily lives and overall well-being. This can involve assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation to appointments, and companionship to combat loneliness. Caregivers can also provide emotional support, help with managing schedules, and offer respite care for family members. Additionally, they may assist with errands, mobility support, and engaging veterans in social and recreational activities to promote a sense of community and purpose. These services ensure that veterans maintain their independence while receiving the care and attention they deserve.

My father-in-law had the most amazing person helping him for over the last year. Kaitlin was the most amazing care giver. She took initiative, was caring and attentive, and was always super communicative. We felt so safe with her there. She has such a gift for working with older people. We were so glad Amada brought her to us.

What a great company. They have wonderful communication and worked with me to help keep my mom at home. The office staff are great. The caregivers that worked with my mom had such patience with her. They also cooked and cleaned took mom to the Dr. appointments when needed.and they fed the cat. Couldn’t say enough good things about them

Being several states away from my single loved one, it was hard to find full care from an agency. We started part time with Amada in Portland, Maine but quickly found they were the right partners for us and discarded the idea of working with two companies as they were ready to take full responsibility. Not every aide was a good fit for my sometimes difficult family member, but when he was uncomfortable Amada agreeable tried someone else until our caregivers were deemed ok to terrific by him. We, Amada and I, for a couple of weeks before my husband and I could get up there, talked regularly and several times a day with his staff planning what would be best for him.. The communication with the owner, the office manager and his main caregivers couldn’t have been more helpful, kind and instructive. We were a team all working for his comfort and safety and to his last day that was our experience. When we were able to get to Portland we worked together to give my brother the support he needed. even when he had to return to the hospital he wanted me and his staff members there as trusted guardians for his care. My brother loved and trusted several of these staffers and wouldn’t let them go, even as other family members/‘friends’ wanted to redirect him. To this day the head of this office continues to help with things we can’t do from this distance and gives unerring support to us.

Under the leadership of Peter Light (who sets the tone at the highest level) my 100 year old Aunt Iris was able to remain safely, comfortably, and well-loved at home in the place she loved. The continuous staffing and Iris’ escalating needs presented challenges that were consistently met with warmth, patience, and professionalism. As a retired physician and Naval officer, I have high standards, but Peter’s Amada team was scrupulous and above all caring… it was almost as if they were all extended family, exceeding expectations on every dimension.

I feel extremely lucky to have Amada helping my dad and other veterans in our community. Ann Marie, Nathalie, and Ahmed are incredibly prompt, kind, compassionate, talented, and flexible caregivers. It feels like they are family. Thank you so much and thank you to the entire Amada team!

So much to say about Amada Senior Care. I had them for my mom when she needed help. They were here from beginning to end. They treated her with respect and compassion. Coming into someone else’s house and caring for their loved one is not an easy space to fill. Amanda Senior Care did just that. They work with you to find the perfect person to help. They were here when mom passed. They shed tears with us. Now they are here for dad. Knowing that your loved ones are cared for and safe, makes all the difference in the world. When you hear laughter coming from the other room because of the easy going personalities, you know you got the right place. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for this type of company. They are top notch and second to none.

Needing a caregiver, for someone you love, is a difficult thing to deal with, in and of itself. I can honestly say that everyone at Amada has made a difficult situation sooo much easier. They have gone above and beyond, in absolutely every way. Ann Marie is absolutely outstanding. It’s clearly not just work, for them. They are truly caring people, who are passionate about what they do, and understand the importance of their roles. I just couldn’t have asked for more. They are stellar. To say that I highly recommend them, is a massive understatement.

I can’t say enough great things about Amada. We were in a critical situation and needed immediate care for a family member. They quickly put together a team of caregivers who are truly amazing. Kind, caring and respectful beyond my expectations. A special shout out to both Jeff and Ann Marie for there follow up and providing service that goes far above and beyond. Your team is changing peoples lives. Thank you!

Living out of state it is nice to know that the staff at Amada is there to help. When an aide was unexpectedly unavailable another staff member stepped in to check-in daily to make sure my mother’s most urgent needs were taken care of. This gives me and my siblings peace of mind.

Amanda cared for my grandmother. I lived out of state at that time, but my dad always spoke highly of the change in her when staff was present. Only positive changes, where she felt safe, comfortable, and loved, her mental health thrived. Even though we only had services for a couple of months, it was super important that Nanna was comfortable for that time. I highly recommend!
