Homemakers and Home Health Aides (HHA): Home Care Assistance for Veterans
The Homemaker/HHA benefit covers the cost of having a trained professional caregiver provide personalized care in the home to meet each veteran’s specific needs, including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, ambulating, incontinence care, medication reminders, as well as housekeeping tasks like laundry and meal preparation. Such care provides compassion and comfort for the mental health of our veterans, allowing loved ones to age in their own homes with grace and safety.
Respite Care: Trusted Professional Care for Your Loved One so You Can Take Care of Yourself
Amada Senior Care and the VA understand the toll that taking care of a loved one can take! In an effort to reduce family caregiver stress and burnout, and to support the health and well-being of both veterans and their caregivers, the VA offers respite care in which a trained, professional caregiver can relieve a family member on a regular basis. During that time, the family member can take a well-deserved break or attend to other household matters, confident that the senior loved one is in the capable, trusted hands of an Amada caregiver.
VA Aid and Attendance: A Benefit Program for Veterans and Their Surviving Spouses
Aid and Attendance is another program providing home care for eligible senior veterans or their surviving spouses. Aid and Attendance can be used alone or in conjunction with the Homemaker/HHA benefit to get more comprehensive care for a veteran.
