Non-medical caregiving for U.S. veterans includes a range of supportive services that enhance their daily lives and overall well-being. This can involve assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation to appointments, and companionship to combat loneliness. Caregivers can also provide emotional support, help with managing schedules, and offer respite care for family members. Additionally, they may assist with errands, mobility support, and engaging veterans in social and recreational activities to promote a sense of community and purpose. These services ensure that veterans maintain their independence while receiving the care and attention they deserve.

I know it’s easy to come across negative reviews from a few unhappy voices, but I have to say, my experience with Amada Senior Care has been nothing short of extraordinary. In a world where genuine, compassionate communication is becoming rare, Amada here in Portland stands out as a beacon of care, respect, and heart. From day one, it was clear: the staff here truly care. Not just about doing a job, but about making a difference in people’s lives. I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this team. This isn’t just a workplace, it’s a community with a purpose I deeply believe in. I often think, I wish my friends and family could work here too, just so they could feel what I feel every day: inspired, valued, and fulfilled. Helping others is more than a career for me, it’s a calling. And at Amada, I get to live that out every single day.

I just recently joined this company and it has been great. The staff has been very flexible with my schedule and finding clients for me.

ASC welcomes caregivers with open arms. They are pretty flexible if they can & usually get back to your questions asap.

I’d give these people zero stars if I could. They are understaffed but keep taking on clients. They lied to my caseworker and to me and left me without help when I needed them to come through without a phone call or any communication at all. They care more about money than being consistent in giving care.

I have been happy with many caregivers through Amada. I recently have had to remind the Office Workers that I have allergies to Perfume and chemicals. They did not inform many Workers . I pay the price with headaches and swelling. I have to send them home and miss out the help I need. I feel frustrated, angry and upset, disappointed in this situation. Thank you

Was somewhat satisfied. The two woman who care for my dad were wonderful, the actual administration personnel come up a little short. Recently my dad had shingles. Doctor said he had them for a while and was not contagious any longer, but when this was told to Amada Admin, they refused to have the caregivers come to the home. The person I talked to was entirely misinformed about shingles. Practically insulted me, and didn’t let up until I finally said “okay fine, don’t have them come this week!” when I needed them the most, I was exhausted. I was a medically trained EMT for ten years. I couldn’t convince this person that her caregivers were NOT going to EVER give shingles to anyone or catch Shingles! … and that his infection was NOT contagious any longer. – When I called my Dad’s doctor and told him what Amada Administrative person did, he said the person was an idiot. Other problems were with billing, it took them 8 months to figure it out. They have a very limited amount of people working for them, and they are “booked” if you need an extra day, or if someone goes on vacation, you have to just deal with figuring how you are going to get groceries for the week! So the two people that come here are good with dad. The admin side needs quite a bit of work.

Becoming an Amada caregiver is a deeply rewarding experience, filled with moments of genuine connection and compassion. It offers the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life, whether by providing companionship, assisting with daily tasks, or simply offering a comforting presence. The role fosters patience, empathy, and a profound appreciation for the strength and resilience of others. Seeing the impact of your kindness and care firsthand brings a unique sense of fulfillment, turning everyday moments into meaningful acts of service and love.
