In part 1, we talked about the initial weeks of Amada’s training and support for Franchise Partners which entails a series of calls. You’ve reached the point where you want to move ahead, at least preliminarily, so now you’ve come to Discovery Day at Amada Senior Care corporate headquarters in San Clemente, CA. This is a small event geared specifically to you, where you’re given presentations by key staff members. You get to ask questions. This process helps both of us make the decision that being an Amada Franchise Partner is the right move for you.

After you leave, in the ensuing days, if you’re the right fit for the company, you’ve returned to sign your 10-yr. agreement and pay the fee. This unlocks door #1of operational training: Opening Business Phase Setup.

At this juncture, through a series of phone calls, our preopening business team walks you through life insurance compliance and assists you in acquiring your EIN, getting you up and running on your website, and more.

We do mystery shops at assisted living and skilled nursing facilities—all to help you develop a sound and reliable network of these kinds of options to which to refer clients, should those options better fit their needs.

This phase takes anywhere from eight to sixteen weeks, with weekly calls from your Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) and other staff on the training and support team. In short, we leave no stone unturned—something that becomes even more evident as you enter other phases of Amada ownership.

As many Franchise Partners come from med device or pharmaceutical sales, they understand medical terminology. They’ve spent years in doctors’ offices and hospitals. But typically, they do not “speak” senior health care, so we work diligently to teach them and everyone else a new language, ensuring they are conversant before the next phase of support: Amada University!

Pomp & Circumstance

Okay, truth be told, we do play Elgar’s famous march at the end of the week, and hand you a diploma, and we do pop for working dinners out in beautiful San Clemente during the week you spend with us at Amada University. But what exactly is Amada U.?

A key part of preparing you for success is an intense, comprehensive, 45-hour week of study involving every aspect of Amada ownership. It’s all about strategy: recruiting strategies; caregiving strategies; operations strategies. It’s about discussions with our subject matter experts from training and support, and marketing departments. We delve into Long-term Care insurance policies to make you the expert.

Whatever it is we cover, we explain it, dissect it, open it up to examination—uber-preparing you in the course of four-and-a-half days to leave our somewhat hallowed halls, confident in your ability to steer your own Amada ship. Again, in the realm of Franchise Partner support, we leave no stone unturned.

Over the years, Amada U. has evolved so that messaging—what you heard in your very first phone call with a senior member of our Franchise Development team remains consistent through the 10 to 15 years or longer that we hope you remain an Amada owner.

For clarity, it is also important to note that a new owner does not immediately go from signing the agreement we referenced above to Amada University. Licensing procedures and timelines in each state are different. When you arrive at Amada U. we want to be sure all your proverbial ducks are in a row, information is fresh in your mind, and with our ongoing support you are ready to open your doors the moment you leave.
