Brad sat with us as he connected with our home healthcare insurance to set up our application for healthcare providers. He knows the business and is instrumental navigating through the paperwork. It doesn’t get any better than that.
We recently went through a very challenging time with my grandmother. Up until April 1st of 2025 she lived independently, drove, grocery shopped, and did all of the essential things needed to care for herself. On the 1st she was diagnosed with a brain tumor but we were told initially that it was a very slow growing probably benign tumor. My grandmother was a retired nurse and we are all nurses as well (myself/grandaughter, mother and sister) After granny suffered a severe seizure the reality began to sink in that she was no longer able to drive and it wasn’t safe for her to be alone. This was very very hard for her as she thrived living independently and wanted to do what she wanted. As time passed she began to decline to the point of needing help with bathing, dressing, walking, etc and she also had major personality changes along with confusion. We did our very best to care for granny in our homes while working jobs and caring for children. we started to realize the level of care she needed was becoming more then we could safely manage but we wanted to maintain her dignity and independence as much as possible. Knowing Brad and Gwen through other connections my sister thought we should reach out and see if they could help us. In a 30 minute phone call with Gwen on a Friday afternoon the lord connected every single dot we needed to move forward and in the best way possible for my granny. Within a week we were signed on for home care along with hospice. Brad and Gwens staff exude everything that I expect as a nurse but as also as a family member. As granny declined she became agitated, confused, scared, anxious and dependent. Every staff member that worked with her treated her not only as a person who deserves compassionate care but as if she were their own grandmother. I have been a nurse for 21 years and spent a season in my career teaching CNA classes to prepare students to take their certification for CNA 1 & 2 and I can tell you that the aides who work for Amada are the best of the best. This can be a challenging field and you get people who do not really care or they just spend their shift on the phone or watching TV. My grandmothers caregivers spent their time caring for her, comforting her, and just being there for her when she was agitated or confused. We could call and get updates any time we needed and the staff was quick to let us know any changes or new information as well. Besides the wonderful care they provided my grandmother they were also providing us love and support. During granny’s last two days we stayed by her bedside and the aides offered us water, chairs, snacks, tissues, and support. Some of them even sang with us as we worshipped and prayed waiting for granny to meet the Lord. Her last moments will always be very special to me being able to hold her hand as she met the lord and knowing that her aide who was there loved her as much as we did was very touching. I can’t express enough gratitude for Amada and the stellar care my grandmother received. Knowing that she spent many years of her life caring for the elderly and then to receive such high quality level of care in her time of need is very very touching. I cannot recommend this company enough. I am so grateful to every single aide who came to her home and thankful to Brad and Gwen for their time, attention and leadership. Amada Senior Care provided exceptional, professional and compassionate care consistently for over a year for our bed-bound mother in her home. While trying to honor our mother’s wish to stay in her own home while on hospice, we interviewed and researched several local senior home care service providers. When looking at care for our Mom, my siblings and I only wanted the best. A neighbor recommended Amada as they had used them for their aging Mom. Amada’s home care was essential in helping me keep my 85 year old husband home during the last four years. He went thru a broken hip, low iron, rashes, uti’s and weakness. Each time, Amada’s caregivers were able to adjust their expert advice and care including showers, exercise, meals, laundry, lotions and nap times. It’s difficult to have people in your home but they made it easy, especially loving my two dogs and cat. Janice saved me! I will miss them. We highly recommend Amada Senior Care Charlotte, owned by Brad and Gwen Smith. On very short notice, Brad met us and selected a caregiver to help bring my husband home from a skilled-care facility. Fourteen months later, this caregiver is still our primary aide and has become our friend. Our Amada caregivers have reliably shown up when scheduled. They have been experienced in caregiving and also courteous, professional, respectful, compatible, flexible in adjusting to our routines, quick to complete any task, and generally cheerful and encouraging. Going “above and beyond,” one early-evening caregiver accompanied us to the Emergency Department and then home at 2 a.m.; she was professional and poised in interactions with the ED staff, when neither the client nor his spouse felt well. In addition to caregiver excellence, a major reason for choosing Amada Senior Care Charlotte is assistance with long-term-care insurance. Brad guided us and advocated for our eligibility to receive benefits, and Amada has successfully filed all of our claim’s paperwork.
