Non-medical caregiving for U.S. veterans includes a range of supportive services that enhance their daily lives and overall well-being. This can involve assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation to appointments, and companionship to combat loneliness. Caregivers can also provide emotional support, help with managing schedules, and offer respite care for family members. Additionally, they may assist with errands, mobility support, and engaging veterans in social and recreational activities to promote a sense of community and purpose. These services ensure that veterans maintain their independence while receiving the care and attention they deserve.

I’m an older adults services professionals and know many of the caregiver companies in Southern California. I did my research and selected Amada in Pasadena because people who I know professionally recommended them. I’m certain their 5 star reviews are legitimate and accurate. Owner Patrick is a genuinely caring, responsible and honest man who I’ve had the pleasure to meet with in person several times. I knew he would ensure my mother was well taken care of. Amada’s assigned caregiver, Julie, was an absolute dream who my mother adored. My family gives Amada in Pasadena the highest praise and recommendation possible. Thank you Patrick and team!

Amada has been helping provide care for my mother-in-law for a few years now. The caregivers have been great. They go beyond caring to make her feel special.

×

These amazing people, Patrick and Christy, went above and beyond, stepping in on a moment’s notice in the late afternoon the first time we spoke, personally going over to my aunt’s house to check on her that same evening, when there wasn’t enough time to arrange for a caregiver to do so. They were in constant contact with me so I always knew what was going. Besides volunteering to take my aunt for a COVID-19 test the next morning, they were also able to send staff who were willing to take care of her before we knew if she had the virus or not (thankfully her test came back negative). Their caregivers show up exactly when they say they will, and keep me well informed (I coordinate my aunt’s care for her). No less important is the fact that the caregivers are all very nice people and have taken excellent care of my aunt. I highly recommend Amada Senior Care!

In the period I used Amada for my Mother’s care (2014-early 2017), I dealt with Tony and Theresa Yoder who ran a very responsive company. Whenever I had an issue of any sort with a caregiver working with/for my Mother (Alzheimers), Theresa accommodated to our needs. I remember how Theresa dropped by daily to oversee the caregiving of my Mother when I had to leave for Europe for 8 days to see aged family members.I remember how Tony gave me guidance on some computer tracking work so I could keep time records for the court. Theresa enlisted her network of contacts in many ways on our behalf, for example, moving into our house and helping with setting up, throwing a 90tieth birthday party for my Mother, meeting with dementia specialist both within and outside of UCLA. Importantly, my Mother loved Theresa even during her evaluations. Only Theresa could have made that part of the process fun. Theresa and Tony are unusually good managers, an absolutely requirement in this business. I learned first hand that caregiving for the elderly often with dementia, is one of the hardest jobs out there. Only talented and caring managers could make that business work given constantly moving variables both on the patient’s side as well as the business end, with caregivers’ availability often changing. As difficult as the entire situation was for me and my Mother, Amada was as responsive to our needs as any caregiving agency could have reasonably been expected to be, and then some.

Becoming an Amada caregiver is a deeply rewarding experience, filled with moments of genuine connection and compassion. It offers the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life, whether by providing companionship, assisting with daily tasks, or simply offering a comforting presence. The role fosters patience, empathy, and a profound appreciation for the strength and resilience of others. Seeing the impact of your kindness and care firsthand brings a unique sense of fulfillment, turning everyday moments into meaningful acts of service and love.

As the owners of Amada Senior Care Los Angeles and Pasadena, Patrick, Christy and Richard D. Babcock, Ph.D., have set the highest standard of care for seniors living in Pasadena, Glendale and surrounding Los Angeles areas from Beverly Hills to Santa Monica to El Segundo and beyond. As a family, the Babcocks have extensive experience supporting seniors and adults who are seeking in-home care. The Amada Los Angeles and Pasadena team is uniquely qualified to provide personalized in-home care and especially skilled in consulting with families about Long-Term Care insurance (LTCi) policies and identifying other funding sources that cover the costs of in-home care.

As experts in Long-Term Care insurance, Patrick and Christy help families distill what are often confusing policies and work to implement them so that adult and senior clients can receive their in-home care benefits as quickly as possible. They are committed to providing LTCi policy reviews to their clients at no charge. The passion Patrick and Christy have for serving as an in-home care resource extends to all aspects of senior care, including care coordination, insurance consultations and funding solutions.

Says Patrick, “My father, Amada partner Richard Babcock, Ph.D., began his 50-year career as the director of a Missouri children’s home for troubled youth. He later founded an organization to serve adults with developmental disabilities which he expanded to Colorado. I essentially grew up in the field of human services, always helping others live robust lives despite any challenges, which is my ongoing mission. Caring for seniors, and finding solutions for people who want to remain in their home, is what I do as an Amada owner and partner.”

Says Christy, “My grandmother’s sister, great Aunt Ruthie, had Alzheimer’s. My grandmother–who already lived with us—drove across the county to pick up Ruthie and her husband Marvin. We all lived under one roof. I was 15 and from that moment on I learned how to help care for someone with Alzheimer’s. It was an honor, but the other side is because we didn’t know we could have caregivers, it took an enormous toll. We also saw the additional toll it took on Marvin and my grandmother: mental, emotional, physical, and more.”

She adds, “With our Amada clients, that’s where we come in. We take over the role of logistics, support and so much more. Our highly trained and compassionate caregivers alleviate the stress and exhaustion families feel. This leaves each family member relaxed and free to be exactly who they always were with their loved one, no matter what the disease or condition: a wonderful son or daughter, a loving spouse or a grandchild. We don’t just work with the client; we work with the entire family.”

The entire caregiving team at Amada Los Angeles and Pasadena understands all the challenges that arise when navigating the senior care continuum. Seniors and their families know they can rely on team members to nurture, support and guide them through the care process. Each member of the Amada Los Angeles and Pasadena team is dedicated to doing everything we can to ensure the seniors in Los Angeles and the Greater Pasadena areas are not only safe and comfortable but are thriving. This means going above and beyond traditional caregiving duties and taking steps to ensure clients feel special every day. Our goal is to provide comprehensive senior care and support to our clients, as well as their loved ones.
