Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Support
At Amada Senior Care, we’re here to make everyday life easier and more comfortable for seniors. Our kind, trained caregivers provide one-on-one help with the daily tasks that make it possible for seniors to live safely and independently.
What are ADLs?
ADLs, or activities of daily living, are the basic tasks we all do each day, such as getting dressed, taking a shower, preparing meals, and moving around the house. As we age, these basic activities of daily living can become increasingly more difficult.
At Amada, we assess seniors to determine how much help they require for these essential day-to-day activities. Our caregivers can then provide gentle, respectful assistance, whether your loved one needs just a little help or more hands-on, long-term care. Our goal is to keep them safe, comfortable, and living life to the fullest.
Below, you’ll find a full list of the basic ADL care services we offer:
Bathing Assistance

Staying clean isn’t just about personal hygiene; it’s about feeling good and confident every day. For many older adults, tasks like stepping into the tub, standing in the shower, or washing hard-to-reach areas can become difficult or unsafe. Our caregivers are trained to provide hands-on, respectful support with every step, from steadying balance while entering or exiting the shower to adjusting water temperature, washing hair, and assisting with drying off and dressing. We create a calm, private, and safe in-home experience, helping your loved one stay clean and preserve their dignity.
Meal Preparation
Good food is part of living well. Our caregivers assist with every step of mealtime, from creating a meal plan and preparing grocery lists to cooking and serving balanced, appealing dishes. We work with your loved one’s dietary restrictions, such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, or easy-to-chew and swallow foods, and always take their personal preferences into account. Whether it’s offering help with breakfast each morning or preparing and packaging meals for later, we make sure eating at home remains a safe, satisfying, and stress-free part of the day.

Dressing Assistance

Getting dressed each day can become a challenge for seniors due to arthritis, balance issues, limited range of motion, cognitive decline, and other impairments. However, we know that feeling comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing matters. Our caregivers offer patient, hands-on support with every aspect of dressing, including buttoning shirts, pulling on pants, tying shoes, and selecting appropriate clothing suited to the weather and personal style. Whether your loved one needs full assistance or just a little guidance, we encourage independence while ensuring they start their day looking and feeling their best.
Light Housekeeping
A clean and organized home isn’t just nice to have; it can help prevent falls, reduce stress, and improve seniors’ overall well-being. Our caregivers assist with home maintenance and daily chores such as doing the laundry, folding and putting away clothes, vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, washing dishes, sanitizing kitchen and bathroom surfaces, taking out the trash, and making the bed. We focus on creating a safe and comfortable living space that helps seniors feel calm, cared for, and proud of their home.

Walking and Ambulation Support

Staying active and mobile plays a key role in a senior’s independence and safety. Our caregivers provide reliable, hands-on support for walking, standing up, sitting down, and moving from room to room. Whether your loved one uses a cane, walker, wheelchair, or simply needs a steady arm for balance, we’re there to help reduce fall risk, promote safe movement, and maintain the senior’s functional status. We also encourage light, regular activity to maintain leg strength, joint flexibility, and functional ability with every step.
Medication Reminders
Staying on schedule with medications is essential for avoiding missed doses, preventing potentially dangerous side effects, and managing health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or Alzheimer’s disease. Our caregivers provide timely reminders for each prescribed medication to make sure seniors take the correct dosage at the right time, whether it’s a daily pill, weekly supplement, or complex regimen prescribed by their doctor. We also assist with reading labels, organizing pillboxes, noting any missed doses, and updating family members or healthcare providers when needed to offer peace of mind.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

Using the bathroom or managing continence can be a sensitive and stressful part of daily life for seniors. Our caregivers provide discreet, respectful assistance with tasks such as getting to and from the toilet, adjusting clothing, proper hygiene, and cleaning after accidents. We also help with incontinence products, scheduled bathroom routines, and nighttime support to minimize discomfort and avoid messes. Through every step of personal care, we prioritize dignity, privacy, and kindness to help your loved one feel safe, clean, and supported.
Transportation Services
Staying connected to the community is a vital part of a senior’s well-being. Our caregivers provide dependable, door-to-door transportation for a variety of needs, including medical appointments, physical therapy, pharmacy visits, grocery shopping, errands, and social activities. We assist with getting in and out of the vehicle, navigating entrances, and waiting during appointments if needed. From start to finish, we ensure each trip is safe, timely, and as comfortable as possible, so your loved one never feels alone on the journey.
