I grew up on a farm in western Kansas, where hard work, faith, and caring for others were an integral part of everyday life. Some of my earliest memories include playing cards with my grandmother and spending time with seniors at our local senior center—experiences that shaped my deep respect and love for older adults. My mother served as an Activities Director in a skilled nursing facility, and through her example, I saw firsthand the impact of compassion, connection, and purpose in senior care.

Over the past 35 years as a registered nurse and healthcare leader, I’ve had the privilege of serving seniors across the full continuum of care—from acute hospital care and clinic-based ambulatory care to home health nursing and leadership roles as an assisted living executive director and a regional nurse supporting multiple senior living communities across three states. These experiences have given me both clinical expertise and a deep understanding of the emotional and practical challenges families face when navigating care decisions.

The name Amada means “beloved,” and that is at the heart of everything we do. We are here to care for your loved ones as if they were our own—helping seniors age in place with dignity, safety, and compassion, while guiding families through every step of the journey. We also walk alongside families in navigating care transitions, long-term care insurance, and VA benefits, ensuring they feel supported both emotionally and practically.

Non-medical caregiving for U.S. veterans includes a range of supportive services that enhance their daily lives and overall well-being. This can involve assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation to appointments, and companionship to combat loneliness. Caregivers can also provide emotional support, help with managing schedules, and offer respite care for family members. Additionally, they may assist with errands, mobility support, and engaging veterans in social and recreational activities to promote a sense of community and purpose. These services ensure that veterans maintain their independence while receiving the care and attention they deserve.
