I grew up in a family where care wasn’t just a profession—it was a way of life. With a father in medicine and a mother in nursing, I saw early on what it means to support people through illness and the emotional weight families carry alongside their loved ones. Years later, after building a life here in the United States, I experienced that reality in a deeply personal way. Within just nine months, I lost both of my grandmothers and my mother—while living far away. Not being there during those final moments is something that stays with you, and it reshaped how I think about family, time, and care.

That experience became a turning point. It made me realize how important it is for families to feel confident that their loved ones are safe, supported, and treated with dignity—especially when they can’t always be physically present. No one should have to wonder if their parent or grandparent is receiving the kind of care they deserve. That belief is what led me to this work and ultimately to serving families in Brookhaven and the surrounding communities.

Why I Do This Work

A Story of Medicine, Loss, and Finding My Way Back

I grew up in a home shaped by healing. My father was a nephrologist — a kidney doctor — and my mother was a nurse. Medicine wasn’t just their profession; it was the air we breathed as a family. From an early age, I understood what it meant to be sick, and what it cost the people who loved you.

As a child, I watched my father’s patients battle kidney disease. Uremia. Dialysis. The exhaustion in their eyes. But what stayed with me wasn’t just the suffering of the patients — it was the quiet suffering of their families. The worry. The helplessness. The impossible balancing act of being a caregiver while still living your own life. My parents carried that weight professionally, and our family carried it alongside them.

Then I came to America.

Over twenty years passed. I built a life here — a career, a home, a future. But the distance that gave me opportunity also took something from me that I can never fully recover. Within a span of nine months, I lost both of my grandmothers and my mother.

Nine months.

I wasn’t there.

There are no words that fully capture what that feels like — to be an ocean away when the people who shaped you are facing the end of their lives. No final conversations the way I would have wanted. No chance to sit beside them, hold their hands, or simply be present in the way that matters most. I told myself I was busy. That I would go soon. That there was time.

There wasn’t.

That grief never fully leaves you. But over time, it transforms. For me, it became a question I couldn’t stop asking: How do I make this mean something?

The answer led me here — to Amada Senior Care, to Brookhaven, to this work.

I can’t go back and be with my grandmothers or my mother in those final months. But I can be present for someone else’s family. I can make sure that the seniors in our community are treated with the dignity, warmth, and attentive care that I wish I had been able to give. And I can make sure that the families who are there — the sons and daughters who haven’t moved away, or who have and are now trying to help from a distance — never have to wonder if their loved one is safe, comfortable, or cared for.

That is why I started Amada Senior Care Brookhaven. Not as a business first, but as a promise. A promise rooted in a medical family’s deep respect for the fragility of life. A promise forged in the grief of losing three generations of the women I loved in less than a year. And a promise that every client we serve will receive care that I would have wanted for my own.

This is personal. And that is exactly why it will always be done right.
