owner of Amada Senior Care Broken Arrow, is seeing the realization of a longtime dream serving as an advocate for seniors who want to live safely and independently with the support they need to maintain their health and well-being. Emily is a state-certified Home Care Administrator, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Emily is joined in the business by her husband, Joe Hilliard, and her oldest daughter, Brittany Loyd. Joe is a Certified Senior Advisor, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, and Brittany  is a Certified Nursing Assistant and holds a degree in Psychology.

“My husband and I have both watched our grandparents and other family members struggle with all of the issues of aging and the difficult landscape that they faced in this process—whether it was finding community resources, home-based care, transportation or residential care,” says Emily. “We understand the importance of having someone to turn to who will provide honest and relevant information and guidance.”

How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?

1. Military Service
  • A minimum of 90 days of active duty, with at least one of those days during wartime.
  • Must not have been dishonorable discharged.
2. Personal Care Needs
  • Applicant must currently require assistance with activities of daily living, such as walking, eating, toileting, or dressing.
3. Income
  • Majority of applicant’s income must currently be spent on care expenses.
  • The percentage of income currently spent on care will determine the benefits they receive.
4. Assets
  • The VA will determine an acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
  • Determination of financial assets will depend upon age and financial need.
