Homemakers and Home Health Aides (HHA):  Home Care Assistance for Albuquerque Veterans

The Homemaker/HHA benefit covers the cost of having a trained professional caregiver provide personalized care in the home to meet each veteran’s specific needs, including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, ambulating, toileting, medication reminders, as well as light housekeeping tasks like laundry, meal preparation and transportation to VA appointments or shopping and errands. Such care provides quality compassion and comfort benefitting not only the physical health but also mental health of Greater Albuquerque Area veterans,  allowing senior vets to age in their own homes safely and independently.

Respite Care: Dependable Quality Care for Your Loved One so You Can Take Care of Yourself

Amada Senior Care and the VA understand the toll on family caregivers assisting a senior loved one at home. In an effort to reduce family caregiver stress and burnout and to support the health and well-being of both veterans and their caregivers, the VA offers a Respite Care Program in which a trained, professional caregiver can go to relieve a family member on a regular basis. Thus, the veteran’s spouse or other family member can take a well-deserved break or attend to other household matters, enjoying peace of mind knowing that their senior loved one is in the capable, trusted hands of an Amada caregiver.

VA Aid and Attendance:  A Benefit Program for Veterans and Their Surviving Spouses

Aid and Attendance is another program providing home care for eligible senior veterans or their surviving spouses. Aid and Attendance can be used alone or in conjunction with the Homemaker/HHA benefit to get more comprehensive care for a veteran.
