When I realized Mom needed more attention that I couldn’t give her as I also care for my disabled brother, I started to look into a caregiver for her. For the better part of a year, Amada has provided round the clock care initially for my brother, who died recently, and then for his spouse, who is presently under hospice care. Amada provided invaluable assistance in completing the claim processes to activate long term insurance claims to help with the cost of care. We were so lucky to find Amada Senior Care. I was given a list of care places by PCOA, and I called so many places, but Amada made a good impression. They went above board to help our needs and make sure our loved one was taken care of. We hired Amada to help us with our aunt. She needed more than anything companionship. But we also needed help with bathing, reminding our aunt to take her pills, reminding her to eat, helping with dressing etc. We got Sam, who is the nicest person you will meet. Sam is so kind and hard woking, always doing something, always helping. We are forever grateful. Our aunt just moved to an assisted living home, and Amada helped us with the transition. They are friendly but it is near impossible to get them to reply to emails or call me back. Edit: Apparently email is not the way to go. Since this post they have really stepped up thier game and helped my family and I immensely. They even helped us get ahold of the insurance company (who were being quite difficult) and made sure all the paperwork my grandmother needed was put through properly. Just make sure you call/text and let them know if you have to email documents and they’ll get it. Even with the initial rough patch I would highly recommend.

Remember the old adage “customer is king”? Well this company takes it to heart. The number one reason we chose to go locally owned versus corporate/national is when the owner is hands-on there can be flexibility that nationwide just can’t provide. Accommodating is Amada’s strength. Their owner is not only hands-on but has a heart, and is top notch. She is immediately responsive on negotiating the insurance end for her clients. And she is easy to be honest with. She’ll keep plugging away until a good fit is found for a caregiver and your parent/client. She’s even added an affiliate emergency health service to come to the home. Amada aims to please and they certainly do!

How is Aid and Attendance Eligibility Determined?
1. Military Service
- A minimum of 90 days of active duty, with at least one of those days during wartime.
- Must not have been dishonorable discharged.
2. Personal Care Needs
- Applicant must currently require assistance with activities of daily living, such as walking, eating, toileting, or dressing.
3.Income
- Majority of applicant’s income must currently be spent on care expenses.
- The percentage of income currently spent on care will determine the benefits they receive.
4.Assets
- The VA will determine an acceptable threshold for applicants’ assets.
- Determination of financial assets will depend upon age and financial need.
How VA Aid and Attendance Benefits can Help You:
