Celebrating Strength, Community, and a Lot of Laughter at Rock Steady Boxing
At Amada Senior Care Sioux Falls, we’re always grateful for opportunities to walk alongside individuals and families navigating Parkinson’s disease. One of the most meaningful ways I’ve been able to do that personally is by volunteering as a cornerman with Rock Steady Boxing at The Inn on Westport.
This week, Rock Steady took a moment to turn the spotlight on its volunteers—and it was something special.
An Afternoon to Remember
The group hosted a celebration filled with encouragement, connection, and plenty of laughter. The highlight of the event? A “synchronized swimming” performance… without the water. It was as funny as it sounds. Participants brought energy, creativity, and a willingness to just have fun together, which says a lot about the spirit of this community.

To make things even sweeter, Encompass Rehab Hospital provided root beer floats for everyone to enjoy. It was a simple touch that added to an already memorable afternoon.
The Heart of Rock Steady
What stands out most about Rock Steady Boxing isn’t just the workouts—it’s the people.

We’re especially grateful for Lisa Howard, whose leadership and passion are evident in everything she does. She’s built more than a program—she’s helped foster a supportive, encouraging environment where people impacted by Parkinson’s can find strength, confidence, and connection.
And behind it all is an incredible group of volunteers who show up consistently to support, encourage, and walk alongside participants and their families. It’s a privilege to be part of it.
Why It Matters
Moments like these are a reminder that care isn’t just about meeting needs—it’s about building community and supporting people in living fully, right where they are.
