\n During the initial interview, they ask what type of caregiver you’d prefer–young, old, male, female–but in reality, you don’t have much say. Since we started in October, my father, who lives with dementia and aphasia, has had eleven different caregivers: Mel, Mary, Nabila, Jackie, Martin, Rosie, Autumn, Kathy, Andrea, Stacey, and Sharon. This constant rotation is especially confusing for someone with dementia, and I’ve had to personally meet with each new caregiver to explain how to communicate with him and what activities he enjoys.\n\nOver the course of ten months, some caregivers were kind, while others were outright unkind. I saw no real signs of specialized dementia training. Often, during the three-hour visits we paid for, they would simply let him sleep rather than engaging him in meaningful activities.\n\nLast week, my father went into the hospital and I texted Amanda at 5:10pm on Friday to let them know he needs services canceled for SUNDAY. Because it was 10 minutes after hours they still charged him $120 for the day even though it was more than 24 hours notice. I’m done\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Shelley was so kind and patient and explained what Amada does and how they could help us when we had no idea what to do next.\nKimberly, the owner, met with us and further explained how their care givers could help us, that she would help complete claim forms, make phone calls, etc to start the process.\nWe\u2019ve had two care givers, both kind, professional and willing to assist with exercises, cleaning, meal prep, driving and even playing games and puzzles which is a huge load off of me and comfort to my spouse.\nI highly recommend Amada to anyone who needs help planning for a future of in-home care with compassionate caregivers.\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

A few weeks later, she met with my family, phoned the LTC insurer and described in detail my LTC policy to us. It is comforting to know what to expect from my policy when I need it. \n I couldn’t be a stronger advocate for this company. I needed a live in solution for an aging grandparent in a short turnaround and Amada saved the day. Then when the 8 hour\/day solution needed to increase to 24 hr\/day they accommodated me same day. To top things off, they also helped me obtain long term care benefits after having been denied months earlier. The staff is friendly with thick skin. An absolute pro outfit for sure. Kim gave us time to ask questions, sometimes, the same questions asked differently so we could better understand the process. She analyzed my mom\u2019s long term care policy and provided explanations about the how the policy works, the restrictions, and what most likely could be submitted for claim. Kimberly and her entire staff have shown such compassion for what our family is going through and has gone above and beyond getting the right help, adjusting hours and offering so much support and referrals for all their needs now and in the future. Lori Jones has been a consistent care giver since my mom first started with Amada and my mother and father have been very happy having her in their home and have shared how amazing she has been with them. As their needs have changed and more people have to come to help they have been happy with everyone which is saying a lot!
