Amada Senior Care Hoboken
Our Story
Hi, I’m Hank, the owner of Amada Senior Care Hoboken.
One of the questions I get asked most often is, “Why did you decide to start a home care agency?”
Before starting Amada Senior Care, I spent more over 25 years working in finance and accounting. It was a rewarding career, but over time I found myself searching for something more meaningful. I wanted to use the skills I had developed running businesses to make a real difference in people’s lives. Just as importantly, I wanted to build a company that operates ethically and never compromises its values.
Home care felt like the perfect opportunity to do both.
Helping seniors remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes is incredibly meaningful work. At the same time, it allowed me to create a company culture I could truly be proud of.

But the inspiration for how we run Amada Senior Care Hoboken came from a much more personal experience.
Years ago, my mother battled pancreatic cancer. During her illness she spent a great deal of time in hospitals and treatment facilities, and I spent countless hours sitting beside her in hospital rooms observing the many healthcare professionals who cared for her.
Most of the people we encountered were simply doing their jobs. They were competent, but many interactions felt transactional and lacked empathy for what my mother was going through.
However, every once in a while someone would walk into the room with incredible positivity. These individuals showed genuine compassion, treated my mom with dignity, and somehow managed to put a smile on her face even during very difficult days.
Those moments stayed with me.
They showed me how powerful empathy and kindness can be in healthcare. And they shaped how I wanted to build the culture at Amada Senior Care.
When I started the agency, I spent a lot of time thinking about what truly mattered and how to build a team that reflects those values. After a lot of reflection, it became clear that everything comes down to three simple but powerful principles.
Positive Energy This is the energy someone brings into a room. A positive presence can change the entire tone of an interaction and make clients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.
Compassion Compassion means truly understanding what someone else may be going through and responding with empathy, patience, and kindness.
Respect for Others Respect means actively listening, valuing people’s dignity, and treating everyone with kindness regardless of their differences.
These three values—Positive Energy, Compassion, and Respect for Others—became the foundational pillars of our culture at Amada Senior Care Hoboken.
They guide every decision we make and every person we bring onto our team.
When we interview caregivers, nurses, schedulers, and office staff, we look carefully for these three qualities. Everyone who joins our team shares this philosophy, and we reinforce it constantly through our weekly meetings and daily interactions.
We hold ourselves to this standard not only in the care we provide to our clients, but also in how we treat each other as a team. If we ever fall short, we address it quickly so we can maintain both a positive workplace and the highest level of care for the families we serve.
At the end of the day, our mission is simple.
We want every client and family we work with to feel the same compassion, positivity, and respect that meant so much to my mother during her journey.
Those moments of kindness can make all the difference—and they are the foundation of everything we do at Amada Senior Care Hoboken.
