Our Personal Senior Care Story
Andrew Dees, Mark Dees and Kim Pate
Mark Dees, the owner of Amada Senior Care of Daytona Beach, understands how important it is for families to understand their options when it comes to senior care, especially when a life-changing health crisis occurs.
“My father earned a comfortable living during his life, he owned his home, he had life insurance, he was a veteran, too! But after a major stroke left him paralyzed on the left side of his body, he had to move into a skilled nursing facility to receive the care he needed,” Mark said. “Neither he nor my siblings and I, all of us with families of our own to provide for during that time, had any idea about the funding options that could have allowed my father to continue living in his own home and still be able to afford the cost of around-the-clock care.”
Instead of moving into a senior living community or other senior housing option, Amada’s in-home care community ensures that seniors can stay in their own homes for as long as possible, with personalized care and assistance from their very own caregiver. Our professionally trained caregivers provide a wide variety of personal care services, including everything from tidying up the house and cooking meals for Mom, to taking Dad out for a walk in the park on a sunny day. It’s these personal touches along with support with daily activities that make the biggest difference in the lives of the older adults that we care for.

This company doesn’t just treat us as employees but as family
I'm not totally sure who Mom had this past weekend but, they were both FABULOUS! I think the girl on Saturday was Shanti. I also think she's the girl who called me on Sunday, to report that the caregiver would be a new person and would be arriving at 5, instead of 4. On Saturday, Mom was kept busy and happy with a long walk, picking up her mail from the box, playing with a puzzle, card games, changing her bed linens, doing a load of wash, and making her dinner. She was very happy with the friendly caregiver and all the things they got done together. She said they were planning to watch the Super Bowl together on Sunday.
Shanti called early Sunday afternoon and said that the scheduled girl had a seizure and a new girl would be coming to Mom. About 4:30, on Sunday, my daughter and her big dog made a surprise visit to her Grammy. They were there when the caregiver arrived and Jessica reported to me that she liked the caregiver a lot. Jessica said that the caregiver was going to take Grammy for a golf cart ride and had other things planned. She stayed just a few minutes then left with her dog. Today, Mom reported that the caregiver was very nice and kept close tabs on her. She was very pleased.
We truly do appreciate all that you and your company has done for Mom and us, since we've started with you. I know, from daily experience, that caregiving can be a thankless job sometimes. It can be frustrating and difficult for many reasons. Thanks for all you do and for all Amada is doing to help us keep Mom happy and healthy.
This company proves caring for your employees makes for a pleasant environment. Never has an employer been available at anytime I needed them. They made me feel as if they cared about me and how I was doing. Thank You Mark, Kim and Andrew.
