Dear Amada Family,<\/p>\n

At the heart of our in-home senior care agency lies a deeply personal story that underscores our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of care for your cherished family members. It all began with my own family.<\/p>\n

Growing up, I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time with both my grandparents and great-grandparents. It seemed like every weekend; my father and I would spend the day with one or both of them. During those moments, I watched my father take care of things around the house\u2014especially in the yard and garden. As I spent valuable time with my grandmother, Barbara, and my great-grandmother, Greatie, perhaps it was here that I unknowingly began to witness and learn about the sacrifices involved in caregiving.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

One of the most powerful experiences I had growing up was watching my grandmother, Barbara, care for Greatie, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s shortly after taking a fall and breaking her hip. As Greatie quickly declined, I watched my grandmother work tirelessly, making sure her mother was comfortable, secure, and well cared for.<\/p>\n

And while my great-grandfather, Poppy, was also getting much older and his health was declining, he made those daily visits, then weekly, and, lastly, as often as he could, to see his beloved wife, Jo Ann\u2014always making sure to give her one yellow-stemmed rose each time, just as he had always done. Once Greatie passed away, he followed shortly after.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Later, when I was older and in high school, I witnessed another example of caregiving as my mother\u2019s mom, whom I called Maw Maw, began to care for my grandfather, Paw Paw. After working a great and long career, he retired with the hopes of enjoying his golden years, with lots of travel, golf, and all those projects he had waited for\u2014only to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after. My grandmother, Maw Maw, someone who had spent much of her life volunteering with Meals on Wheels (yes, I was there with her) and as a Candy Striper at Cook\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital (yes, I often visited with her there in her candy stripe uniform), suddenly found herself in the position of needing to care for her beloved husband, Wilson. Years later, she spoke to me privately and often about how hard and painful it was for her\u2014the physical demands as well as the emotional strain as he quickly declined, faster than she could keep up.<\/p>\n

A more recent experience further deepened my admiration of caregiving. Last year, my wife\u2019s grandmother, Vicki, could no longer stay in the Texas country home she had loved for so many years. It was one of the hardest decisions her family had to make\u2014to move her into an assisted living facility, and later, into hospice care. During this time, my wife and I had the privilege of meeting Vicki\u2019s caregiver, Sandra, a compassionate person who was there with her until her final breath. In spending time with Sandra, I gained an even deeper appreciation for those who care for our loved ones. It\u2019s not just about meeting physical needs; it\u2019s about showing respect, compassion, and honoring their journey. This experience reinforced my belief that both caregivers and those we care for deserve dignity\u2014something that is at the core of what we do at Amada Senior Care.<\/p>\n

These personal experiences have helped shape who I am and have prepared me for this vocation. Whether you\u2019re navigating the complexities of long-term care insurance, considering in-home care, or exploring senior living options, I am here to make the process as seamless, stress-free, and reassuring as possible.<\/p>\n
